Lesson 1: 10:00

This lesson covers some basic safety issues: safety with structure fires, fireground injuries and their causes, and dangers of firefighting including heat and thermal stress, exterior and interior burns, toxic gases and byproducts, and smoke. Instruction on what firefighters should expect when entering the simulator is given and then firefighting hose handling and ventilation techniques are reviewed before firefighters enter the simulator to practice firefighting evolutions.
